Good Food + Crispy Chocolate = Fun Times

Challenge to Speak 2
Challenge to Speak 2
It’s a challenge for them and me both. We’ll see who learns the most.I’m not so good with titles sometimes… but I do my best.

I know how Julie from the movie Julie & Julia felt, and I like it. It’s so fun logging back on and seeing comments and more subscribers. That was a really good movie (minus the random cursing by Julia Child’s husband. Completely uncalled for) by the way.

Anyway, I wanted to let everyone know that the reason I haven’t put my city/where I’m teaching on the top of these blogs is because I don’t have that option when I select where I am. Where I am isn’t big enough to be noticed by the website.. just Wuhan, Yichang, and 3 Gorges Dam. I will let you know now.

I am on the Continent of Asia, in the country of China, in the Hubei Province, in the city of Danjiangkou, and will soon begin teaching at the Yun Yang Teacher’s College.

Speaking of teaching… I got my textbook yesterday.. which you can see. I have the option of teaching another Oral English class or a Speech/Debate class (can you see me teaching a debate class?? yeah… not so much.. but I told her I’d think about Crispy Chocolate
Crispy Chocolate
YUM. Thank you Kyle for showing us these amazing ice creams.it). When I told Kyle about it, he said he would gladly trade with me.. he likes the speech class better than just oral English because it’s more structured.

Speaking of Kyle, he came back yesterday! He’s been traveling around China for a few days, and he made it back today. He’s really nice.. and funny. When he knocked on my door, I opened it and greeted him with, “HEY KYLE!!!!” (I hope I didn’t creep him out because it’s not like we’ve ever met in person before.. just facebook/phone conversations. I probably did. But then again, he knows how it feels.. he’s been here a year.) I probably would have hugged him if he hadn’t have had the huge backpack on. It hasn’t even been a week, and I was already so excited to see another American..

I found another spider. I have learned that bugs are really fast and know how to dodge being killed. It took me like 5 times to kill this one. It’s dead inside the curtain in my bedroom.. right beside the bed. Yessss.. but at least it’s dead now. Who knows how long it’s been creeping around alive. Ick.

Random Napkins
Napkins
These are from that fancy hotel we ate at. Apparently it’s acceptable to take the napkins off the table. That’s what they told me anyway.story change. This has nothing to do with China.. but bugs. I used to help one of the guys on the board at my local camp clean the cabins in the summer before camp actually started. They were always bug infested. He used to laugh at me because there were these weirdo bugs that rolled up (no.. not rolly polies. they were white.) when you tried to kill them that I was deathly afraid of. I ended up having to suck them up with a vacuum cleaner because I couldn’t handle them.

Okay… back to China. My air conditioner (yeah. singular.) randomly spits out little droplets of water. It’s not like it leaks a lot or anything, but every now and then I’ll be standing under it, and I’ll feel this tiny drop of water. I have to look up and make sure it’s the air conditioner every time it happens. (Don’t want it to be some kind of gross bug spitting on me.. or someone. Have you ever heard that stupid story about the girl who thought it was her dog licking her hand but it turns out to be a man? If you haven’t, don’t bother. Sometimes though, when I’m by myself at night I think about that story.. and it creeps me out)

Seriously, this is the most random blog I’ve written so far. Sorry. My mind keeps straying.

Alright.. I ate the best food I’ve had so far last night and some really good ice cream. You can see that as well.. not the food, just the ice cream.. and not the actual ice cream. Why? Because I ate it like it was nobody’s business. Seriously. A week of food that is just alright makes you really enjoy a night of food that is really good. In the restaurant, Kyle was actually like, “This is going to be a lot of food.” Most of the food was gone. We all ate like we were starving.

I got my contract in an email yesterday. I was supposed to read it and ask questions today. I didn’t really start this story to tell you about the actual contract. (If you’re interested, let me know.. and I’ll fill you in) The reason I’m telling you is because it was named “Miss Brenda”. I thought it was cute. It made me think of KCS (and it made me not miss it.. not even a tiny little bit).

And I know why we’re not supposed to drink the water. I was brushing my teeth, and I turned on the water.. it was definitely discolored. It does that in the toilet all the time, but I hadn’t actually seen it do that out of the faucet. It wasn’t pretty. I let it run for a minute and it turned clear(er). Eeek.

I know that I had something else to say.. but it’s gonna have to wait for the next blog because I can’t remember. So long, friends.
