volcan nevado ruiz
out from Manizales guide and i ascended nevado ruiz, starting form 4800 meters and climbing to 5300 meters. the view was mostly whited out as the accompanying photos will show. wind was whipping and temperature was below freezing.

as you can see there was no view at all. but it sure was cold

in background is another volcano in the national park, visible as we completed our return trip. the clearing lasted only about 20 minutes then remained socked in with clouds for rest of day
